In recent years, despite the economic crisis, the revenues of non-governmental organizations grew until 2020, when they were lower than the previous year for the first time. The associations revenues decreased in 2011 and 2013 compared to the previous year but have since grown and in 2016 already exceeded the level before the reductions. They increased by 3.04% in 2018, and by 6.63% in 2019, before falling by 15.56% in 2020. In 2022, they increased again by 19.36% compared to the previous year. The institutions had a decline in revenues in 2012, but already in 2013, they had higher revenues than before the crisis. In 2022, institutions had a decline in revenues again by 6.29%. Foundations revenues decreased in 2011 and 2014 compared to the previous year and only in 2015 they have higher revenues than before the crisis. In 2016 and 2017, there was a drop in income at the foundations again, namely below the level of 2009, and it is only in 2018 and 2019 that it is again higher than before the crisis. In 2020, foundations had a decline in revenue, namely by a little more than 28%. In 2021, the income of foundations increased by 14.39%, and in 2022 they exceeded 2019 level.

DISTRIBUTION OF REVENUE RELATIVE TO THE FORM OF NGOs

More than two thirds of all revenue of non-governmental organizations is generated by associations, followed by institutions and foundations. Even though institutions represent only 12.89% of all non-governmental organisations, they generate as much as 33% of all revenue. The high share of the institutes' generated revenues is also reflected in the fact that the institutes employ more than half of all workers in the non-governmental sector.

When relating the average revenue of a non-governmental organisation to its form, the revenue is highest in case of institutes, amounting to just uder € 118,000. The average revenue of foundations and associations is considerably lower, a foundation generating just over € 71,000 in average revenue, and an association just over € 35,000 euros. The average revenue per non-governmental organization amounts to € 46,031.
